Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This policy explains how KEEDIL LIMITED ("Keedil", "we", "us") handles personal data when you visit keedil.uk, contact us or buy cookware, knives and bakeware from us. We are the controller of that data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer because we are not required to. Please send any privacy question to the email address above.

2. Personal data we collect

Data you give us when you place an order

• Contact details: full name, email address and phone number.
• Delivery details: street address, town or city and postcode.
• Order details: the products, quantities and prices in your order, the order number, and any comment you add (for example a safe place or delivery instructions).

Payment information

Card payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not receive, see or store your full card number, expiry date or security code. We only receive confirmation that a payment was made or failed, the amount and a transaction reference.

Data you give us when you contact us

• Your name, email address or phone number and the content of your message or call — for example questions about hob compatibility, returns or a faulty item.
• If you ask to join our newsletter by email, the email address you send the request from.

Data collected automatically

• Our hosting provider records standard server logs: IP address, browser type, the page requested, date and time. These are used to keep the site running and secure.
• Your cart is held only in your browser's memory while the page is open. It is not stored on our servers or on your device and disappears when you close or reload the page.

We do not collect special category data (such as health, religious or biometric data) and we do not ask for it. Please do not include it in order comments or messages.

3. Why we use your data and our legal bases

We only use personal data where the UK GDPR gives us a lawful basis to do so:

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced them against your rights and you can object at any time (see section 9). We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing, and we do not sell your personal data.

4. Who we share your data with

We share personal data only as far as needed for the purposes above, with:

• Courier and delivery services — your name, delivery address, postcode and phone number, so they can deliver your parcel and contact you about it. For orders containing knives the courier may check on delivery that the recipient is 18 or over; we do not receive copies of any ID.
• Our payment provider — to process card payments and refunds and to prevent payment fraud. The provider acts under its own privacy policy for the card data it collects.
• IT service providers — website hosting and email services that store or transmit data on our behalf under written contracts.
• Professional advisers — accountants, auditors and legal advisers, where needed.
• Public authorities — HMRC, the police or courts, where the law requires us to disclose information.

Service providers acting on our behalf may only use your data on our instructions and must keep it secure and confidential.

5. International transfers

We aim to keep personal data in the UK. Some service providers (for example email or hosting services) may store or access data in the European Economic Area or other countries. Where data leaves the UK, we make sure it is protected by one of the safeguards recognised by UK law: UK adequacy regulations for the destination country, the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details of the safeguard used.

6. How long we keep your data

• Order, invoice and payment records: six years from the end of the financial year in which the order was placed, as required for tax and company records.
• Returns and warranty correspondence: up to six years after the order, so we can deal with claims under consumer law.
• General enquiries: two years from our last contact with you, unless they become part of an order.
• Newsletter list: until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent; we then keep your email on a suppression list only so we do not contact you again.
• Server logs: normally no longer than 30 days, unless needed to investigate a security incident.

When data is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

7. Security

We protect personal data with appropriate technical and organisational measures: the site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, access to order data is limited to people who need it to do their job, accounts are protected with strong passwords, and our providers are bound by confidentiality and security obligations. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never stored by us.

No system is completely secure. If a personal data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell you and report it to the ICO where the law requires.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

keedil.uk does not set advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and does not use localStorage or similar browser storage. The cart works only in the page's memory.

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests the font files, Google receives your IP address and browser information as part of that request. You can block third-party fonts in your browser settings; the site will then use your system fonts.

If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent first, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and update this policy.

9. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erasure — ask us to delete your data where there is no good reason for us to keep it (some order records must be kept by law).
• Restriction — ask us to pause the use of your data, for example while we check its accuracy.
• Data portability — receive data you gave us in a structured, machine-readable format, or have it sent to another organisation.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
• Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, such as for the newsletter.

To use any of these rights, email ceo@keedil.uk. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We will reply within one month; this can be extended by two further months for complex requests, in which case we will tell you why. Using your rights is free unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.

10. Withdrawing consent

You can withdraw your consent to our newsletter at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email or by writing to ceo@keedil.uk. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it, and it does not affect order-related messages we need to send to fulfil your purchase.

11. Complaints to the ICO

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

12. Age restrictions

Our website and products are intended for adults. You must be 18 or over to place an order. UK law prohibits the sale of knives to anyone under 18, and orders containing knives are delivered only to a person aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has given us their details, please contact us and we will delete them.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, providers or the law change. The latest version will always be on this page with the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use data you have already given us, we will let you know by email before it takes effect.
